Junior squash players from the Liverpool Squash Academy travelled over to Rotterdam, Holland to take part in the junior Friendship Cup which was held at the Victoria Sporting Club in Rotterdam. The tournament venue boasts the state of the art courts and conditions which lent its self to some fascinating and intriguing matches over three days.
Not only were there some great individual performances from the Liverpool juniors, they also managed to win the overall team event by taking maximum points, beating teams from Rotterdam and Essex UK. A truly great team performance considering the junior squash academy was only formed 3-months ago.
Individual winners in the “Friendship Cup Tournament” belong to David Fumpson U17 boys, Katie Lloyd U15 girls, Sam Sheen U15 boys, Connor Sheen U13 boys and Becky Connick U19 girls. The highest accolade went to Tom Horrocks for his outstanding all-round contribution in the tournament winning all of his matches, thus gaining the best individual junior player award for the tournament.
The winner on the day was junior squash, with exciting matches, unrivalled performances, and great camaraderie among all of the junior competitors.
This was truly a “Double Dutch Triumph for Liverpool Academy Players”
